Seefeld and Skiing
... a long, joint history
Wilhelm Völck founded the Seefeld Ski School with just 5 instructors
in 1921 at a time when ski-lifts hadn´t even
been invented.
Our best-known instructor up till now is certainly the
world-famous Seefeld local skier Toni Seelos - 4 time world champion in slalom
and combination in the 30´s.
He invented the parallel turn which
changed the face of skiing forever and made the name of Seefeld and
the Seefeld Ski School a household
name around the world.
He was the head of the ski school until 1981
and the book "Toni
Seelos - Ein Leben für den Schisport" (printed 1999) has
lots of interesting details about his life.
Nowadays we have up to 120
ski instructors in our ski school, one of the best in the whole of
Tyrol, under the leadership of Erwin Seelos.
We have a wide choice of
courses available - and we´re
still teaching the parallel turn. Thanks Toni!
