Dividing the Groups - Ski School Pass
Children are divided into groups according to ability, age and wherever
possible, language.
Tiny-tots are divided into the tiny-tot groups on a daily
basis at 9.15 and/or at 11.45 at Gizzi´s
Children´s Ski Paradise at the tiny-tot (“Zwergerl”)
flag.
Children Beginners are divided into groups on Sundays and Mondays (daily
during holidays) at 9.45 by the beginner´s (“Anfänger”)
flag at Gizzi´s Children´s
Ski Paradise.
Advanced skiers can start any day.
Advanced skiers with our ski
school pass meet by the advanced (“Fortgeschrittene”)
flag or those without a ski school pass meet by the conveyor belt for
the SKI TEST.
Ability Levels - standards from 1 to 7
According to ability and age (with the ski school pass, without
the ski test)
Beginners:
Children learning to ski for the first time. Learning
the ski-schuss is a natural progression once you have mastered
moving on the flat. The aim of the group, depending on age, is to learn
to
snow-plough (brake) and ski short descents or for older children
to turn (turning on a slope) and to use the lifts.
- Snow-plough:
This group is made up of mostly younger children who are perfecting
their snow-plough (brake) and learning to turn (turning on
a slope). Older children often skip this level.
- Turns:
The children consolidate their turns and learn to use the lift
so that they can tackle more difficult slopes. Older children can often
skip this level too.
Safe turns:
This level sees a repetition of turning skills and an introduction
to basic carving by means of a progressive set of exercises i.e. concentrating
on positional angles. Parallel skiing is not far off.
- Carving basics:
Here
the children learn to bring the skis parallel while turning i.e. the
legs are brought together earlier. Parallel skiing is the aim. Depending
on their age children can repeat this level several times but various
ski games and teaching aids mean the lessons are never boring.
Parallel
skiing:
Pole planting is introduced to help consolidate parallel skiing
skills and is followed by learning to ski on edges without sliding out
(carving).
At this level the children are going faster so we are aiming for
speed control and a good understanding of the rules of the piste.
Carving:
Perfecting carving skills (skiing on edges without sliding out).
The children also learn to ski on steeper slopes and practise powder
skiing and bumps.
Ski School Pass
At the end of the course each child is given a ski school pass which
indicates their level. If you bring the pass with you on your next holiday
to Seefeld, then your child won´t have to do the initial ski test
on the first day as the pass shows which group is the right one for them. |
